HISTORIC DISTRICT: The Historic Landmark District is composed of the city's famous squares, residential streets and a downtown commercial area with shopping and restaurants. Years of preservation efforts have resulted in many beautiful fully restored homes. However, for those who are more ambitious, historic homes in need of restoration are still available. A recent trend has led to the conversion of historic homes into lofts and apartments.
VICTORIAN DISTRICT: As the city expanded south, the Victorian district was created. This area has an abundance of homes in need of restoration and has become more popular as the number of restorable homes in the Historic District declines.
ARDSLEY
PARK : This neighborhood was the first suburb in
Savannah . Situated on wide streets lined with oaks draped in moss, are a mix of four and five bedroom mansions and quaint craftsman bungalows. The beautiful homes and live oaks have made this midtown neighborhood one of the most popular in
Savannah . It is convenient to both the historic downtown and modern southside shopping.
GORDONSTON: Named after the family of Girl Scout founder, Juliette Gordon Low, this neighborhood is in eastside
Savannah and close to downtown. It is similar to
Ardsley
Park in character and charm, but has yet to be "discovered". Gordonston is a mix of Victorian homes and craftsman bungalows situated around a park.
